Caldwell Booking Photos and Release
A booking photograph records appearance during an intake or correctional process. It can stay associated with an arrest or offender record after release because the image describes the earlier event, not present custody. For the same reason, an old Caldwell County mugshot cannot prove that someone remains jailed, has been released, or has completed supervision.
Kentucky public-record law does not make release photos an all-or-nothing class. A written request should seek the existing image and its date while allowing the official custodian to apply lawful redactions or exemptions. No official Caldwell County release roster, mugshot gallery, recent-release photo view, sheriff app, or local publication policy was found in the official county, Jailer, and Sheriff channels reviewed on July 19, 2026.
That negative finding makes the source chain important. Start with Caldwell County Jail for its booking image. Use Kentucky DOC for a state offender photo. Check court and news records only for their own images and context. The Caldwell County release-record process should be used separately to establish why and when custody ended.
Where Caldwell Mugshots May Appear
Each channel has a different scope. A KOOL image is not necessarily the photo taken during a Caldwell County Jail intake. A police-supplied news image may not be a mugshot at all. VINELink is chiefly a custody and notification system, not an authoritative historical photo archive.
| Channel | Has photo? | How to access and limit |
|---|---|---|
| Caldwell official roster or release feed | None located | No verified local gallery, app, or recent-release photo view was found |
| Caldwell records request | Possible | Ask the Jailer’s official custodian for the booking photograph and date |
| KOOL | Often, not guaranteed | Open the state offender detail through the camera icon; it may not be the Caldwell intake photo |
| VINELink | Interface-dependent | Use for custody or release status, not as the photo archive |
| Kentucky DOC open records | Possible | Request the offender photograph and image date with identifiers |
| Local news or police release | Sometimes | Read the caption and source; a supplied image is not always a mugshot |
| Third-party aggregator | Sometimes | Discovery lead only; it may be old, mislabeled, or detached from current status |
| Federal BOP locator | Not a county gallery | Federal custody and release scope only |
Always match the full name with a booking number, date of birth when lawfully available, case number, DOC identifier, and booking date. Visual similarity is weak evidence. If a source lacks the image, do not infer that the arrest, booking, or release did not happen.
No Caldwell Mugshot Gallery Found
The official Caldwell County Jailer page supplies the Jailer’s identity and jail telephone. It does not link an inmate roster, release archive, or photo gallery. The official Sheriff navigation also does not provide a jail lookup or mobile booking app. Generic pages claiming to be an “official roster” are not a substitute for a government source.
For a person released in the last day, the Caldwell 24-hour release process explains why no verified local rolling list can be displayed. A current-custody list, even if one appears elsewhere later, would omit people who left and would not establish whether they bonded out, completed time, transferred, entered treatment, or remained under another custodian.
Note: No verified Caldwell County web gallery or sheriff mobile app was found, so request the source image directly.
Request a Caldwell Booking Photo
Kentucky’s Open Records Act route begins with a written request to the official custodian. Call Caldwell County Jail at 270-365-6790 and ask who holds that role and where the request should be sent. No official local request form, dedicated email, photo policy, hours, or fee schedule was located. Do not guess an email address or route the request to dispatch.
- Identify the person with full name, aliases, date of birth if known, and a narrow booking date range.
- Ask the Jailer’s office for the official records custodian and current written-request destination.
- Request the existing booking photograph, its image date, booking number, booking and release dates, and release type or destination, subject to lawful redaction.
- State that electronic copies are preferred and ask for any fee before production.
- If part is withheld, ask the custodian to identify the specific legal basis and provide separable nonexempt material where required.
- Compare the returned image metadata and identifiers with the release record rather than relying on appearance.
KRS 61.872 calls for a sufficiently precise request and contains a Kentucky-resident access framework, so universal eligibility should not be promised. Under KRS 61.880, the agency generally grants or denies and sends written notice within five business days, excluding weekends and legal holidays. That is a response deadline, not guaranteed production in five days.
For noncommercial requests, KRS 61.874 generally limits copy charges to actual reproduction, media, and mechanical cost rather than staff time. No Caldwell-specific rate was found. Ask for the current schedule. Exemptions under KRS 61.878 can include personal privacy, statutory confidentiality, and some investigative material. A narrow request allows redaction without demanding an entire jail file.
Kentucky Photos for Caldwell Offenders
Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, or KOOL, often includes a photograph for a person in the state corrections record. Search by DOC or PID number when possible. In results, a camera icon indicates a photo route, and opening the person’s name displays the detail. Kentucky DOC says most offenders have photos but does not promise an image for every record. Institutions update photos at least annually or after a significant change in appearance.
KOOL’s image is a state offender photo. It may not be the picture created when Caldwell County Jail booked the person. Its presence also does not answer whether the person is now incarcerated, released to parole, discharged, or transferred. Read KOOL status and date labels, then verify the actual release event through the appropriate record.
The official KOOL photo FAQ explains the state source illustrated below.

The FAQ supports use of KOOL as an official state-photo channel while preserving the key limit: not every record has a photo, and it is not necessarily Caldwell’s booking image.
For a DOC record copy, email correctionsopenrecords@ky.gov and include a mailing address, or write to Kentucky Department of Corrections, Division of Public Affairs, Attn: Open Records Coordinator, P.O. Box 2400, Frankfort, KY 40602. Fax requests may go to 502-564-9575. Include the full name, date of birth or offender identifier, and ask for the offender photo and its date.
Caldwell News Photo Limits
Local news can preserve a police-supplied image connected to an incident. A Caldwell-area report about a person who left a treatment furlough used an image supplied by Princeton Police. The report demonstrates two limits at once. A supplied image is not automatically a booking mugshot, and physical absence on furlough is not final discharge.
Read the caption, credit line, publication date, and event text. Never turn a news image into proof of present status. If the article says the image came from police, describe it that way. If it does not identify a booking source, do not relabel it. News archives are selective and cannot serve as a full Caldwell County released inmate mugshot list.
Third-party aggregators can also retain an old image after official status changes. They may misstate whether someone is currently held or released. No commercial mugshot publisher, data seller, or removal service is linked here. An outside image is only a lead back to an official record, and it should not be used to defeat a lawful sealing or expungement outcome.
Why Caldwell Mugshots May Disappear
Kentucky expungement can change the public trail. Qualifying acquittals and dismissals with prejudice on or after July 15, 2020 are automatically expunged after 30 days unless the defendant objects, within the statute’s scope. Other misdemeanor and specified Class D felony matters involve petition rules, waiting periods, certification, and fees. The Kentucky Court of Justice expungement process is the official starting point.
An expunged result does not prove no booking once occurred. It means public access has changed by legal process. Do not search caches or aggregator copies to reconstruct what public systems removed. For the Caldwell case file, the Circuit Court Clerk is the local custodian. Ask about the public record by case number, and respect any sealed or expunged status.
A missing KOOL image can have a simpler cause. DOC does not guarantee that every offender record carries a photo. Likewise, the absence of a Caldwell gallery reflects the lack of a verified publication channel, not proof that the jail never created a booking photograph.
Kentucky Mugshot Removal-Fee Law
KRS 61.8746 targets specified commercial publication or use of agency-obtained booking and inmate photographs when a publisher demands a fee or other consideration to remove them. It creates remedies for that conduct. The law does not require Caldwell County to publish mugshots, declare every photo public, create an online gallery, or approve every records request.
Caldwell County has no verified published local mugshot policy in the surveyed official channels. A purpose-neutral written request to the Jailer’s custodian remains the authoritative fallback. Request the image and date, let the agency decide disclosure under current law, and keep the response with the associated booking identifiers.
No removal-fee service should be treated as an official remedy. Contact the originating agency about its copy, the court about an expunged case, and a publisher directly about its own material. Legal advice about a disputed publication should come from a qualified attorney.
